LIMA '07

Posted by y. 源

Finally i managed to jog to the airport runway non-stop yesterday! Ah..after a week of jogging, my stamina has also increased considerably..but still not enough..plus i think i am getting fatter again..three meals a day, just like any normal person..but it's the portion per meal that makes me fat! The dishes are full of carbohydrates too..not many fruits to eat anyway, sometimes got bananas and sometimes got mandarin oranges..but i can only blame myself for taking so much rice every meal..

Anyway, LIMA is coming to lgk next week! For those who don't know what is LIMA, LIMA stands for Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition. And of course, one of the events will be held at the airport, which is 20mins walk from my school. I don't know what to expect from the event but i guess airshow by the Red Arrows is something that won't be missed out every year! Just now when class was still going on halfway, i saw the Red Arrows training and performing their stunts (in the airspace right beside my school) for next week's events. Damn cun..

Boring..

Xuan messaged me two days ago said she's coming lgk with her friends for holidays..a group of 14 people, she said..goodness..such a huge group..i guess it's pretty hard to meet up with her also..don't think she has much free time for herself and she's going back today anyway..haha..

Ahh.. Today is the last day of my holidays already.. Spent most of my time reading manga online and also doing some revision for the next phase..so far, the syllabus in Electricity is quite similar to Form6 Physics..So still can cope with it, sort of like just refreshing what i learned last two years..As for books such as Piston Engine and Jet Engine, the contents are all new to me..Just flipped through few pages and it seems that i need to learn the engine components and their functions mainly..still got 3 more books that i haven't read yet..one is Theory of Flight, one is RT Practical, and another one is....ermm..forgot already..

It is kinda hard to study engines cuz i have not seen those stuffs before and have to try to imagine how it functions..i did some research online too but of not much help..some seniors said that there are a lot more imaginations in store for me in the next phase after DCAT, which is CA6.. well, no use think too much bout CA6 first since it is still a long way to go..best to concentrate on the present, get the basics right, do things one by one, and everything should turn out fine..

Rearranged morse code.

Due to boredom, I have invented a way of memorizing Morse Code based on the code's pattern. Once you have identified the pattern arranged below, you will not have any trouble of memorizing (and understanding) it in less than 3 hours.

End of PPL!!

Posted by y. 源

Finally PPL exam has ended on the 19th.. *Phew* Feel so relaxing after a month of "crash course".. But anyway, me and a few friends went to LGK airport to celebrate our "independence day"..and..we had kenny rogers! Wakao..After a month of eating the food in the academy, it was time we spent some money to have some decent food! Ordered a quarter chicken and 3scoops of ice cream as desert.. Damn nice..worth the money spent.. but we didn't know that students are given discount at kenny rogers though..

Anyway, the next day, which is yesterday, we got back our result already and we were given briefing by the instructors about each of our subjects. Well well..my result arr..hmmm..

Navigation/meteorology/radio aids= 96%

Airlaw
= 96%

Radiotelephony
= 95%

Aircraft General
= 100%

*Passing marks= >75%*

Looks like i still have a lot of room for improvement..Still careless here and there, especially in Airlaw but the frequency is much lesser than the first progress test i had 3weeks ago..I will see whether i can score perfect 100% for all the subjects in my next phase of pilot course: DCA Technical..Anyway, everyone in my batch has passed all the subjects! And a batch mate of mine treated everyone of us at a Thai Restaurant in Kuah Town (to celebrate 100% pass in our batch)..The delicacies there were fantastic and absolutely delicious..*the waitress not bad too, i mean their figures; the bill also FANTASTIC*..

And today..me and a few friends rented a car to travel around..went to Kuah Town of course and visited many cun places and took alot of pics too using one of my friends high-tech pro camera..too bad i cant post them online for now due to certain reasons..anyway, we went to many duty free shopping complexes! Some of us source for liquors, another bought clothes, the other bought perfumes, and a few bought chocos too.. Guess what..ferrero roche here is 55bucks for three boxes!! I repeat, 55 bucks for 3boxes!! Wakao..Damn cheap wei..such a good offer, i bought 3boxes for my family..the offer lasts until end of this year only, that's why i bought it early, plus i may not be free to go out next time..

*stella, stephanie and francis, if u guys are reading this, don't say i didn't buy..i will bring the chocos back next year CNY*..

holidays? NO more..

We will be given a four-days holiday next week starting from Thursday till Sunday..Actually i was thinking of going back home..but then, the flight ticket price is bloody expensive..firefly's promo tickets also out of stock..left with the expensive ones..to and fro to kl is already more than RM200 already..and that is excluding the bus fares..so i won't be going back after all..Stay here or hang around the island?Go to the beaches??

Dunno man..

Morse code and Planes!

Posted by y. 源

well well, i didn't expect to learn bout speechless code in my Radio Telephony class..it's kinda cool to transmit messages using morse code..this is just the basic though..

THese 3 planes are the planes that i'm gonna fly next year after i finish my ground school.. {From top: TB10, DA40, DA42}

The first two planes are single engine while the DA42 is twin engine..TB stands for Tobago and DA stands for Diamond.

Another test coming soon...

well..just got back the second paper result of the first progress test..77.5%..it's a pass..but i still need to improve!!! should at least score 90% or more, but i made too much careless mistakes! one of it is i used to wrong scale sides of the ruler to measure map. the ruler has 1:250000 on one side and 1:500000 scale on the other. i din notice the difference of scale in the ruler and hence i used the 1:250000 scale on a 1:500000 map to measure nautical miles..ahhh..

nevertheless..it's a good lesson for me..wun repeat it again..

second progress test is next week edi..and then on 19th is the PPL (private pilot license)
exam edi..and later we will most probably get a week hols..hmmm..still thinking whether i should go back or not..cuz flight tickets reli expensive while bus fares is relatively cheap but it's bloody long hours to travel back!

Result...

ooo..finally got back my first progress result edi..82% is my mark..*pheww*..anyway, next monday still got radio telephony and air laws tests!

Test!

This the the view of my school from the main gate. That is the cafeteria. Office and hostels are further up behind.

That is how my room looks like. Well, the guys in the pic are of course not me and my roommate. Our room is not as clean as the room in the picture though.

Anyway, test is coming soon edi. Although it's just a progress test, but still it's a test to see how far i know bout the subjects tested. Yesterday studied till bored edi, so went out with a bunch of frens to play ping pong. And it's around 12am like that. Nearly everyday my frens and I will go to the table tennis hall nearby our hostel to exercise for around an hour or two. Kinda addicted to it already. =D

In the next two to three weeks time like that, I will have to sit for the PPL exam, which stands for private pilot license. Should be kinda easy i suppose.
