Instrument Flying 2&3 - Dual

Yesterday night when I came back from hangar I saw the whole campus was in pitch dark.

The school did not pay electricity bill eh, I thought.

My friends told me it was Earth Hour from 2030hours to 2130hours.

Oh, Earth Hour. Didn't know that it was yesterday. Too busy to prepare for flying.

***********

Office politics are everywhere, even in this school. And things can get real messy. Like what is happening to a batchmate of mine.

He just wants to learn to fly properly and graduate from here fast.

But because of some sorta wars are going on between some instructors, my friend is now in the middle of the battlefield, as a victim.

The story is too long and too complicated to post it here. Sigh~~

I am under one of those instructors and I may just be the next victim if I make the wrong move.

Spare me from all these sh*t, please.

I am really tired.

General Handling 3 - Dual
General Handling 4 - P1U/S
Instrument Flying 1 - Dual

Done with my GH 4 since two days ago and still waiting for my turn to do PT5.

Anyway, I have some news to share.

1) my reporting date back in kl is on 2nd of July 2009. Which means I have 2 months to rot. Time for part time job??

2) the company will not sponsor any more cadets and has stopped the direct entry application until further notice. At least not in these two years time.

3) the batch that will be reporting here on the 13th next month (which my friend happens to be in the batch) is the last company-sponsored batch. So if you have friends want to apply, just tell them to study uni for another 3-4 years and get a degree first.

4) SIA has grounded 17 jumbo jets for long term parking. A SG-London trip in an A380 had only 60+ passengers.

5) female cadet pilots (and private sponsored pilots) will have a very very tough time to get a job in these few years. Consider a job as AFI or FI.

6) our fate is hanging in balance. To the sponsored ones, study hard, be extra patient, don't fail in tests/exams and don't give the company a chance to kick you out.

Good news? Things still proceed according to plan. For now.
No more details here. More to share when we meet up one day.

TE Sim L2/2
TE Sim L2/3

I think I mentioned once before about the flying with different instructors.

Standard Operating Procedures, in simple, is to standardize the all kinds of operating procedures from pre-flight check, procedures in the air, until post-flight check.

However, there are always some idiotic instructors, for whatever reason, unable to follow the SOP and teach their students well.

In my case, well, my Twin Engine instructor, Z fits nicely into the category. Wtf.

He was grounded twice, by the Standard Officer already and I really don't understand why, people like him can exist here.

My batchmates and I (4 of us) filed a report on him today and requested to change instructor. But no, the procedures that Z taught us were not enough to get him grounded.

=(

So what's next? Continue fly with him and memorize 2 types of SOP.

Memorize is one thing, but whether can we perform 100% in the air is another matter.

Procedures are to be practiced until they become a habit. To change a habit is already tough.

Now to switch from one habit to another habit is.....ah.... *faint*

Of course, it is not something impossible to do, provided we have the time to practice. The problem is we do not have the time!

The flying exam (or Progress Test as we call it) for Twin Engine has to be done after around 10 flying hours (or 6 sorties).

I completed 4 of them and tomorrow gotta fly another 2. Thursday should be my PT day.

Oh, I love my school~~~

Look at the bright side? Yes, I am becoming more hardworking.

Can I pass the PT? Yes of course!!!!! I am so full of confidence.......

1) Do not assume that all the flying school cadets love to fly.
Because quite a few are forced by parents.

2) Do not assume that all the flying school cadets are all good people.
Because there are many morons here.

3) Do not assume that all the flying school cadets are born to fly.
Because idiots are no lesser than morons here.

4) Do not assume that all flying school instructors are good.
Because some instructors are just bloody arrogant, stupid, don't know how to teach but only know how to scold their students!!

General Handling (GH) 2 - Dual

New exercises covered yesterday such as:

-Asymmetric Drill,
-Engine Fire In The Air,
-Engine Failure After Take-off (EFATO),
-Asymmetric Rejoin,
-Asymmetric Circuit.

Asymmetric simply means NOT symmetric.

2 perfectly fine engines are giving the same thrusts so that it can fly symmetrical, but what if one of the engine fails?

Since only one engine is producing thrust, the airplane will start to yaw (and then roll) towards one side, which is the Dead Engine side. And in less than 2seconds, it will start to spiral dive.

Faster. And faster.

Turning into a 280km/h roller coaster ride into hell.

That is if the pilots do nothing to regain control of the aircraft. =)

No one wants to enter a spiral dive, so we have to regain control very fast, recognize which engine fails and complete the necessary emergency drills.

Controlling of an aircraft flying asymmetrically was definitely not an easy task for newcomers like me.

I had to floor (and maintain the leg pressure) the rudder pedal whenever the rudder trim was not to be used.

The first try was easy cuz my legs still had energy. By the time we went for the 5th, my legs were almost like jelly. Haha.

Seriously the rudder input was hell alot.

But later with the help of rudder trim, control became easier.

I think I gonna do some stretchings and warm-ups first before each flight.

General Handling (GH) 1 -Dual

I finally started my Twin Engine(TE) actual flying phase yesterday evening!!!! Muahahahahhahahahahhahahah!!!!

I practiced on Medium Turns, Steep Turns, Clean Stall and Approach Configuration Stall exercises.
With the instructor on the right of course. No solo flights in TE.

We were planning to do asymmetric exercises too. But I requested to turn back to land.

After a month of not flying and just simulator, airsickness came to haunt me again. Although the intensity was much lesser (just felt dizzy and numb), I still couldn't give 100% concentration on what he was teaching.

The sortie ended 20mins earlier. Haha. Kinda waste to continue my sortie if I couldn't focus.

My body should be able to adapt fully after 2 more sorties.

Just a preview I found in youtube. Sorry! I don't have the translation!

The 3 little kids are so cute! And so is the teacher! Pewwwitt~~!
I like the part (time 00:23) when the boy said: My ambition is to be a pilot.
Then the little girl interrupted and said(time 00:26): You are so fat!! I am afraid the plane can't even take-off!
This film is definitely worth buying! Super funny!!! :) I wonder who is the director. I tried to google for this title but all came out alien words that I could partially understand.
Rating: 5/5!!
**Gonna ask my sis to buy its vcd/dvd.**

House for Rent?!

Posted by y. 源

After weeks of survey, I have summed up with a list of places to rent a house before I start training in SBZ.

Damansara Jaya
Kota Damansara
Subang Perdana
Kg. Subang

So far KD is my best choice but I am still open for options.

Study hard for your ground subjects!!

Posted by y. 源

This advice is obviously for those still struggling to pass your CAA6 and CAA2 subjects.

I just attended a briefing on filling up license application form for the CPL/IR with Frozen ATPL.

For your information, just in case you did not read about the rules and regulations in MCAR......

If you do not clear your CAA6 papers in 12months OR CAA2 papers in 6months from the date of first attempt, you will have to resit all the papers again.
Yes, ALL THE PAPERS in order for DCA to issue your license.

If possible, pass all papers in one attempt.

Don't make your life difficult.

Trust me, you won't wanna study for ground school and flying at the same time.

********
To seta&ec fellas,

recognize anything familiar in these 2 pics? haha. Got them from wendy by the way. Don't ask me about the title. I dunno how to read. ;p

what status?

Posted by y. 源

Some visitors from the Ministry of Higher Education came this afternoon. Cuz the school is applying for the "advanced tertiary training institution" status.

Well, I am pretty sure the school can keep dreaming. Unless, you know, cables.
A very thick one.

As usual, many of us were ordered to take part in the acting sessions. In our rooms, crew restrooms, library, classes, etc.

Just for comparison of standard and facilities alone, this school is lagging behind apft by 70%!

Whether the school get it or not, it's none of my business.

Just gimme my license and let me graduate in a month time.

Ritter Sport Minis

Saw this chocolate, again. Reminds me of someone.

The girl who gave me this German chocolate at the Holiday Plaza parking lot.

Aww~~ The girl was as sweet as the chocolate! The daughter of my aunt's friend from Australia. Around my age.

Believe it or not, I didn't ask for her name!!

I was just too shy....

Hey, that was 18years ago k!! :P

Anyway, I've passed my Sim L1/12...

TE Sim L1/11
TE Sim L1/12 - P1U/S

Sim L1/12 is the last Part 1 simulator sortie which I was tested on the basic instrument flying skills and also nav aids tracking&procedures.

I also found out how long my 100% concentration last.

Only 1hour 30minutes. (A 2-hour sortie.)

Hence it caused me two major mistakes during the last 30mins of the sortie:
-Forgot to switch the required nav aid frequency.
-Overshot the altitude that I was supposed to maintain.
Both happened during ILS approach to land.

My mind just went blank. Eyes fixed on a position longer than usual. Scanning pattern of instruments was not in the correct order.

But I think I should be able to pass this test.

So now I just gonna wait for actual flying sorties and Part 2 simulator.

*************

The school has come up with more funny and brilliant rules&regulations for the cadets.

Oh, to those who are coming here to study, don't worry, I won't spoil the fun!!

=) =)

There is so much more for you to learn about this school!!

And you will come to understand (very soon..in less than 2 weeks of schooling) how deep is my love for this school since October 23rd 2007.

Personality Test! Try it!!

Posted by y. 源

Your view on yourself:

You are intelligent, honest and sweet. You are friendly to everybody and don't like conflict. Because you're so cheerful and fun people are naturally attracted to you and like to talk to you.
*Yeah yeah!! =p*

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.
*True true..still waiting for the right one..*

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.
*The problem is who is The Right Person??!*

The seriousness of your love:
Your have very sensible tactics when approaching the opposite sex. In many ways people find your straightforwardness attractive, so you will find yourself with plenty of dates.
*Plenty?! haha..yeah..plenty..at many times, the sensible tactics did not work at all!!*

Your views on education
You may not like to study but you have many practical ideas. You listen to your own instincts and tend to follow your heart, so you will probably end up with an unusual job.
*Unusual job........pilot eh?*

The right job for you:
You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.
*Pilot is a regular job I think. Not unusual!*

How do you view success:
You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.
*Not really true lor. My thinking is more like 'if I don't do this, I gonna regret it someday'.*

What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.
*Things that I cannot control....well..hmmm............ (after 15mins)..............what kinda things??????..teacup?!*

Who is your true self:
You are full of energy and confidence. You are unpredictable, with moods changing as quickly as an ocean. You might occasionally be calm and still, but never for long.
*That's weird. Me unpredictable?!! No No No...*

Guitar guitar guitar

Posted by y. 源

I spent like 3weeks to search for David Tao's Regular Friends (普通朋友) guitar tab but it was a little tough to play using that tab. Then I searched online for video lessons and I found this:

Profile link:http://www.youtube.com/user/ccavute

Ok, I didn't learn much from this video cuz I don't have capo (the black colour clip near her left hand).

But I just want to say that

I love this guitar alot!!!!!!

The design is so freaking cool! At first glance I thought the guitar body is made from glass or something! But it's not! Ah~~ Lovely.

It's actually Yamaha Silent Guitar SLG 100 S. There is also SLG 100 N. S for steel strings version. N for nylon.

Ebay Bolehland is selling average 550USD.

Not gonna buy it anyway. No money. And this guitar is not for beginners.
